Don Bosco University is a project of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) executed by Don Bosco Society, Azara, Guwahati. Presently, Salesians are working in 132 countries catering to over nine million young people worldwide; Salesians have been recognized by Government of India as the single largest provider of technical education in India, second only to the Government. More than 100 Salesian technical schools and 25 colleges have been established in India. Scores of non-formal training centers, agricultural training centers, relief and rehabilitation centers, literacy centers and shelters for street children in India are managed by the salesians of Don Bosco.

Educational Approach

Don Bosco University aims at excellence in teaching & formation and seeks to realize a vibrant campus ministry program. It offers a basket of ‘finishing school' skills and quality placements for each and every student. Every process in the system comes under the purview of continuous and on-going evaluation. A sustained proactive alumni association is to carry forward the lifelong learning of the DBU students and their partnership with the Vision of their alma mater.
Study and Research Areas

The thrust areas of study and research have three major sectors; viz., Technology, Service and Social sectors. The Technology sectors include information and related fields, biotechnology and related fields. The Service Sector covers nursing, pharmacy, paramedical, psychology, counseling, management, media, arts, teacher education, social work, rural development and related fields. The Social sector has religion and culture, ethics, governance and tribal studies and other related fields.
Special Programmes

Distance Education reaching to the remotest and most inaccessible corners through distance education programs using IT-enabled techniques. Commitment to society involves study and training programs for women, farmers and local industries along community college lines; fully sponsored residential school for underprivileged especially tribal children. DBU ensures equity and access through scholarships for promising students, free studentships for disadvantaged meritorious students and student loans.

B TECH is a 4 Year (8 Semester) AICTE approved programme, leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Technology by the Assam Don Bosco University.
Number of Seats

The University offers BTECH in five branches of Engineering with an intake of 300 students:

    Civil Engineering - 60 seats
    Mechanical Engineering - 60 seats
    Computer Science and Engineering - 60 seats
    Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 60 seats
    Electronics and Communication Engineering - 60 seats

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary School Leaving Examination (or equivalent) with at least 50% in the aggregate and 50% in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates should have appeared for AIEEE, any State Entrance Test or the Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test (DBU GET).
BTECH - Lateral Entry

A few seats are available for direct admission into the third semester of B Tech for those who have completed B. Sc. (PCM) and for holders of 3-year diploma from government-approved polytechnics, who have pursued an AICTE approved curriculum in an appropriate branch of engineering.

They should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (Diploma Holders) and 50% marks (B Sc candidates).

They should also appear for the Assam Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test (DBU GET). They will be given admission on the basis of merit in the DBU GET subject to the availability of seats.
Free Studentships and Incentive Scheme

The College grants 10 free studentships for rank holders and for those securing over 90% in PCM in the CL. XII Science examinations of the eight states of North East India, on a first-come first served basis. They would not be required to pay the tuition fees; other fees would be applicable.

Another 20 applicants with 80% or more in PCM will be eligible for a 50% reduction in tuition fees on a first-come first served basis.

These candidates should have appeared for a valid Engineering Entrance Test.

The students benefitting from these incentives will be eligible for their renewal in subsequent years subject to their obtaining 80% or above in every semester examination.
ENTRANCE TEST (DBU-GET) FOR BTECH

Those who do not appear for AIEEE or State Entrance Tests must appear for Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test (DBU-GET).

The DBU-GET for B. Tech and B. Tech (Lateral Entry - B. Sc.) will examine the candidates on their proficiency in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the CL. XII level.

The DBU-GET for B. Tech (Lateral Entry - Diploma) will examine the candidates on Mathematics, Computer Science, English Usage and the branch into which they seek admission.

The Entrance Test may be conducted in any/all of the Don Bosco Institutions specified in the Prospectus. The university reserves the right to cancel any of the test centres.
